The Value of Push-to-Talk

Do you ever find yourself sitting in a meeting listening to the multiple conversations going on at one time and wonder, how are we actually getting things done?

There have been times when sitting in a meeting was comparable to a Thanksgiving meal with my family and all the cousins, conversations flowing at a rapid pace.

A meeting shouldn’t be going on like this, meetings are set up to complete tasks, accomplish goals and to put plans together. Using the Push-to-Talk feature by Team on the Run. we have found a way to cut down on chatter, improve workflow, and improve the overall experience of a meeting.

What makes Push-to-Talk a successful solution for a meeting? Its ability to give one person the floor to speak. You speak when its your turn, everyone else listens, once you finish someone else can take over and have the floor. This gives each employee a voice no matter if you are the manager, intern, or executive.

Having these meetings with a global company or a company with remote employees is a great way to make sure everyone is attentive and gets a chance to voice their opinion.

When we have a weekly meeting it’s a time for each employee to speak up on their tasks that they are currently working on and with Push-to-Talk each member has a chance to speak up and take turns. When it’s your turn to speak, the floor is yours and you can explain everything.

Meetings through something like Skype or Google Hangouts can actually hinder productivity when everyone can speak at one time. Not to mention the guy on the call that doesn’t realize his mic is always on.

Team on the Run also offers the ability to set up channels: A channel is a group full of members who, when signed in, can push to talk with everyone, from anywhere, just like a walkie-talkie Frequency band, but far stronger. This allows you to control who can enter the meeting, that way you can make sure that the right people are always in your meetings.

Team on the Run allows you to take control of a meeting and make sure everyone is not only participating but plans stay intact and goals on target.

Say goodbye to overly complicated meetings and hello to meetings simplified.

Value through Story: Introduction

Here at Team on the Run we understand the value of a good story to help a brand grow. A good story helps a brand grow by showing people the realistic side of why a brand can be right for a business.

A few months back we started a series called Content on the Run, which was a way for us to introduce and highlight some of the many features we offer within Team on the Run.

Now, we want to share some of the stories on how Team on the Run is improving businesses, with you. Team on the run offers users and businesses alike with a multitude of features. On the blog in the past we’ve told you about these features, now it is about showing you.

Starting October 21, 2016 our first post will go live. Be sure to tune into the blog each Friday as we share some stories on how Team on the Run is improving workplaces around the world.

Features on the Run

Over the past few months here at Team on the Run we have been working on providing engaging content stretched across multiple and new platforms. One of these “new” platforms is YouTube.

Starting this week we will be launching our first set of feature videos onto the channel: YouTube

These feature videos will showoff different features that are offered within the Team on the Run app and Webchat. Especially after trying out Team on the Run, the YouTube “features” playlist will be a good place to go check out and take a deeper dive into what Team on the Run can offer your business.

This week the two videos of interest that will be discussed is:

Push-To-Talk feature on Android and Webchat.

Later in the week I will include the links to the videos in a blog post, till then enjoy the user guides as some added reading on the feature:

NFC: On the Run

NFC communication is another one of the many features brought to you by Team on the Run. For those unfamiliar with NFC communication, NFC stands for Near Field Communication:

NFC: is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within about 4 cm (2 in) of each other

NFC tag check ins with Team on the Run allow you to do instant updates while on the go. Real-time inventory updates will allow you to update management on inventory by just hovering your phone over a well placed NFC tag.

NFC also allows for instant updates on employee tasks and performance. Complete a task? Use an NFC tag to mark what time you finished your task or project at so your boss knows exactly when you completed said task.

Lastly, NFC also provides security, access control and location identification among other process automation in the business environment. Private security companies can use NFC tags to see when employees are checking doors and checking rooms to be more precise and time efficient each time they check a room. When tagged with NFC they can also back up when exactly they checked rooms and doors in case of emergency as well.

Group Messaging: On the Run

Group messaging is the best thing since sliced bread. Long gone are the days of copying and pasting the exact same text message ten separate times to ten different people. Or the confusion of making plans with a large group of people, the difficulty of notifying everyone about any changes and keeping everyone on the same page.

It is one of the things we take for granted, but I don’t think anyone can imagine a world where group messaging did not exist. This is why messaging apps such as Facebook Messenger & Groupme have become so popular in our society – they make group messaging easily accessible with the tap of a few simple buttons.

Team on the Run provides an entire new take on group messages. One of the basic concepts of the app is that it is one huge group chat between you and all the members of your company or business. Conversations can literally take place with every single person in one place at one time, no matter how big or how small of a company it is.

In addition, TOTR includes another feature, in which there can be smaller group chats for the different groups within the company, for example a Marketing Department group chat or a Sales Department group chat, or even a group chat to place a lunch order for all the members in office on a particular day. Not only can you communicate with colleagues around the country, but you can even include members from all over the world. Group collaboration has never been so easy!
And again, unlike Groupme, Facebook and other messaging apps, any information exchanged through Team on the Run is always protected by our state-of-the-art encryption system, and therefore will always remain 100% confidential.

Web chat to mobile: On the Run

Imagine a typical day in the office. You’re currently working on a business deal with a client online when all of a sudden, your babysitter informs you she can no longer pick up your son from school. Or maybe you lost your phone in the clutter of your desk while in the middle of an extremely important conversation with your boss.

No worries – that’s exactly the problem that the web-to-chat feature of Team on the Run targets.

If you have an iPhone and a Macbook, you know exactly how useful this feature can prove to be. With iMessage, every conversation updates instantaneously between iPhone and Macbook, and vice versa, so that your conversation can continue whether you are lounging around in bed on your laptop, or on the go with only your phone. Which is perfect since we live in an era where no one goes anywhere or does anything without their phone in hand.

Similarly, with Team on the Run’s WebChat feature, all conversations, whether they are group chats or individual chats, sync in real time from phone to desktop, and vice versa. However, unlike iMessage, these chats remain secure while being synced – just another guarantee provided by Team on the Run.

In other words, through Team on the Run, it is extremely easy to communicate from mobile devices via our secure app OR on laptops/desktops via our secure web browser log-in. No matter where you are and no matter what device you are using, your data will always be synced and ready to take care of!

Walkie-Talkie: On the Run

Walkie-talkie’s are an age old tool that have been used for nearly half a century to transmit communication from one device to the next. Nowadays we have walkie-talkie mobile apps to help aide but they may fall flat in terms of encryption, ease of use or the ability to be fully cohesive with your business and employees.

With Team on the Run, turn any smartphone into the Ultimate New Generation Cloud Walkie-Talkie. Team on the run offers businesses enhanced Push-to-Talk for Drivers, Dispatch Managers and other Field and Remote Personnel (And more!).

wy-vs-totr-virtual-wt.png
A comparison between TOTR and traditional Walkie-talkie’s

Team on the Run Walkie-Talkie also eliminates the proximity issue allowing you to connect team members wherever they are located around the globe. This makes it a valuable communication solution not only for teams dispersed in the field but for office workers as well, providing a cost-effective alternative to expensive long distance conference calls / IP phones or vulnerable free conferencing software.

The best part is TOTR wasn’t just built out as a walkie-talkie but offers so much more in the form of VoIP calling, secure messaging, and file sharing, just to name a few.

Team on the Run updates check-ins at the workplace with cutting edge Near Field Communication (NFC) Tag

A couple of months ago we were happy to announce the addition of new NFC Tag technology to the Team on the Run service.

Today our post is about popular use cases for this technology in different industries, but first:

What is Team on the Run Near Field Communication (NFC) Technology?

Long and technical story short, Team on the Run uses the built-in NFC technology of your Android smartphone to send an automated message from your device to a central company database when in close contact with an NFC tag (or reader). Team on the Run allows you to create custom messages that fit each use case. The message that is sent could be text or it could change the status of a task in your company’s centralized management system. Team on the Run’s NFC Tag feature harnesses the technology you already have but are not using, and allows you to automate daily processes, streamlining your business activity and saving you resources at a very reasonable price. NFC Tag is a real steal that is included in our most basic package. You can read more about it HERE, otherwise scroll down for some examples of this technology.
