Default action on contact press

Description: The new Default action setting in Settings/Options allows the user to decide what action will be performed when he presses a contact on the Contacts screen.

3 modes are available:

  • Send message: open or start a conversation with the contact or group (existing behavior and default selected action)
  • Call: trigger a call to the contact or start a Push-To-Talk session if a group was selected
  • Push-To-Talk: start a Push-To-Talk session with the contact or group

Push-To-Talk Floor control sounds

Description: When the Push-To-Talk floor control sounds option is enabled in Settings/Voice Settings/Push-To-Talk Options, floor control sounds will now be noticeable not only to user when pressing or releasing the floor but also when other participants presses / release the floor.

Push-To-Talk auto-join session sound

Description: When both the Push-To-Talk floor control sounds and Push-To-Talk Auto response options are enabled in Settings/Voice Settings/Push-To-Talk Options, a sound will now be played to notify user that he has automatically joined a PTT session. The join session audio notification sound is only played to the added participant.

Digital Transformation Made Concrete Part 2: How it can Protect your Business

When we look at the Digital Transformation and how it is shaping companies, one of the most important things to take in is the protection aspect. Company data, files, and even standard emails are at risk on any given day.

In a study done in 2013 by TechTalk, 95.6% of commuters put their company data at risk. This can be done by sending emails over “free” WiFi, or even sending data over 4G. You don’t realize in doing so that you are in fact putting your companies data at risk.

Timothy Francis, enterprise lead for Cyber Insurance digs further into the premise stating, “62% of cyber breach victims are small to mid-size businesses, which are at the greatest risk for an attack. Their level of preparation is low, and the costs of customer notification alone can be enough to do a small company irreparable financial harm.” In the same article which written by Rosalie L. Donlon, goes on to explain that the cost of a data breach in just legal fees alone can be crippling for a business.

So what we are looking at now is employees who are unintentionally putting their business at risk just by doing their job. Having a chat over texts or email while at the local coffee shop on their free WiFi is a danger to your company. This is why the digital transformation is important for businesses small to large. Digital Transformation Made Concrete: Part One

Digital transformation, business mobility, mobile enterprise, and some other related buzzwords.

Let’s start by defining the term. I found this definition by Agile Elephant that I think explains the term very clearly:

“Digital transformation is the process of shifting your organization from a legacy approach to new ways of working and thinking using digital, social, mobile and emerging technologies.  It involves a change in leadership, different thinking, the encouragement of innovation and new business models, incorporating digitization of assets and an increased use of technology to improve the experience of your organizations employees, customers, suppliers, partners and stakeholders.”

A few means of digital transformation include the use of analytics, mobility, social media and smart embedded devices to improve on traditional techniques and technologies to aide in smoother, faster and more intuitive internal processes and external customer relations.

The digital transformation is already a reality and the “transformation” side should not be taken lightly, as Phillip Tracy points out in What is Digital Transformation:

“Leading companies of this concept can be found in nearly all industries, with disrupters like Uber providing extreme examples of what digital transformation can achieve. In fact, in 2014 MIT interviewed 157 executives in 50 large companies — typically $1 billion or more in annual sales — and spanning 15 countries. Approximately half of the interviewees were business leaders such as CEOs, line of business managers, marketing heads or COOs, while the other half were IT and technology leaders. The companies interviewed were moving forward with digital transformation at varying speeds and experiencing varying levels of success. MIT found the best companies – those they refer to as “Digirati” – combine digital activity with strong leadership to turn technology into transformation, or what MIT considers reaching “digital maturity.”
